With winter coming soon The Spa King Team wants to make some suggestions that will help save you money and maximize your Spa experience.
Last year we had some issues during heavy snow that prevented several Clients from using their Spa. Typically, this pertains to the higher elevations but in a heavy snow year it could be everyone. While snow removal is included with your service, we can only remove it on the day we service your Spa. It is important to remove snow while it’s still easy to brush off. Some covers were damaged when Spa Clients lift their covers with a half foot or more of snow on it. When this is done it can tear the hinge and let water into the foam core. The snow needs to be brushed off with a soft brush or soft broom. It is also important to clear snow before it slightly melts and refreezes. Once it refreezes it’s very difficult to remove. Warm water is the best way to remove ice. However hot Spa water is not a good idea as it has chemicals that tend to damage the cover threads. If someone forces the iceberg off the cover the iceberg can take a piece of the cover vinyl off with it.
Another snow issue is gates that open inward. If there is a pile of snow in the swing area of the gate, we will not be able to get in without putting stress on the gate hardware and possibly damaging it. When a pile of snow forms into ice behind the gate it becomes impossible to open. This happened several times last year. We service different areas of Reno & Sparks so when we have to skip a stop, we cannot return the next day as we will be in another area.
The Spa King Team cover recommendations are as follows:
- Brush snow off Spa cover as soon as possible, never open Spa cover with snow on it.
- Keep gate swing area clear of snow, ice, debris, tools etc.
- Never use a snow shovel or other ridged tool to remove snow from your Spa cover.
We use the ‘Sno-Brum’ pictured here for cover snow removal. Always pull snow toward you in small piles. They have them online at Home Depot and Amazon.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We hope your Spa brings lots of enjoyment to you and your family this Winter!
Kind regards from,
Mike & Regina
