Due to the risk of freeze damage Spa King recommends never shutting your Spa down during cold weather. We did do winterizations prior to 2016, however even when doing it correctly if the cover flies open during a storm or water slips thru the cover freeze damage can and has occurred. If you do find you want to winterize your Spa there are many guides on how to do it online. I also feel the price to winterize a spa, then re-open the Spa in the Spring costs more than the electric used to keep the Spa up and running. If you wish to shut it down for more than a year, we suggest selling it. Typically, any Spa that sits longer than a year ends up needing more repairs than the value of the Spa.
